| Historical Note -
Breechclouts: The Breechclout was originally made of deer hide. But
as fabrics became available and the "white man" began wearing them they
were normally made of wool and sometimes lined in the crotch area with
linen or cotton. Traditionally the breechclout was only 5 or 7 inches wide
and hung barely below the supporting belt. But today's re-enactor lives in
a society of morality codes and so the breechclout is substantially longer
to prevent indecent exposure by 21st Century standards. Additionally, the
hem of the shirt should be as long as the tails of the breechclout.
